Women's Swim 5th At Clovis Invitational

The Pasadena City College women's swim team placed fifth out of 10 teams with 340 points at the Clovis Invitational held Feb. 21-22 in Northern California.

As will be a theme this season, sophomore sensation Carmen Ung had the majority of the top swims for the Lancers, including event victories in the 50 (25.67) and 100-yard freestyle (56.07), and 100 individual medley (1:02.06). She also scored second places in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke races. 

Maryjane Martinez placed fifth in the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 100 butterfly while Emily Gray scored fifth in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 50 freestyle. The 400 medley relay of Gray, Fernanda Alvarez, Martinez and Ung placed third in 4:35.03.

At the SCC Pentathlon at Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 14, Ung won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.06) was second in the 200 IM (2:18 flat), 100 butterfly (1:03.60), 100 backstroke (1:10.13), and 100 freestyle (57.71). Gray finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:10.34) and fifth in the 100 freestyle. Martinez scored fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 200 IM.

Coach Terry Stoddard's Lancers will participate in a SCC-opening double dual meet on Friday, Feb. 28 at El Camino College v. Mt. San Antonio and the host Warriors.
