Behind a 25-11, 25-20, 25-17 sweep over Rio Hondo College Wednesday night, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team remains in first place in the South Coast Conference North Division with one match remaining. The Lancers held a festive post-match ceremony to honor the team's seven sophomores.

Six of the sophomores--libero Pamela Galvan, middle blocker Jada O'Mally, setter Tehya Topalian, outside hitter Camille Ferguson, and defensive specialists Emily Ramirez and Sharon Ohlgisser all saw action (setter Heather Collado did not play due to injury). Galvan made 17 digs and served four of the team's 13 aces. Ferguson added four aces and Topalian set 12 assists. 

Frosh outside hitter Janell Currier led the team with seven kills (.333 attack percentage), 15 digs and two aces. Redshirt middle blocker Danielle Johnson contributed six kills, two aces and a solo block. 

PCC improved to 11-12 overall and 5-2 in the SCC North. The team's season rides on its regular season and conference finale this Friday, Nov. 9 when the Lancers play at Chaffey College. A victory v. the Panthers would give PCC the outright title for the second straight season and earn it an automatic playoff berth. However, The Panthers are 4-2 and also in a position to win the title outright by beating the Lancers and then defeating Mt. San Antonio in their season finale on November 13.

Also still in the mix for the coveted title are East Los Angeles and Mt. San Antonio, both at 3-3. ELAC could finish 5-3 and tie for the title with wins over Mt. San Antonio this Friday and Rio Hondo next Tuesday, but only if Chaffey beats PCC and then loses to Mt. SAC. The Mounties can also finish 5-3 with wins over East LA and Chaffey, but would need Chaffey also to defeat PCC. This last two scenarios create a 3-way tie for the championship involving the Lancers.
