Women's Volleyball Rolls Past Roadrunners

Ranked tops in Southern California, the state #3-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to eight with a quick sweep over host Rio Hondo College, 25-14, 25-14, 25-16, on Friday night. The Lancers are 11-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in South Coast Conference play.

Nalani Young landed 10 kills, hitting .381 with six digs, Verenice Gonzalez made five kills and four blocks, and Paulina Lopez was a perfect 4-for-4 on attack attempts as PCC made short work of the host Roadrunners (5-8, 3-4). Sabiya Esquivel added six kills (.308), Camila Sanchez-Tellez (.308) scored five kills and two solo blocks, while Annie Lay set 15 assists and totaled seven digs. 

Saku Yoshioka served five of the team's 13 aces, Nayeli SalasOrtiz twirled three aces with 12 set assists while Kei'ana Pascua had nine digs. four set assists and two aces. PCC leads the state in aces per set at 3.25.

Coach Mike Terrill's Lancers are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when they host this past week's #23-ranked Cerritos College in a 6 p.m. South Coast Conference match.
