Sophomores Emily Licon, Chayse Hoon, and Kamea Vongfak, members of the Pasadena City College 2024, South Coast Conference North Division co-champion women's volleyball team are all playing at the next level, upping the Lancers total of 4-year university transfers to four.
Licon is joining teammate Shaylee Ungos at NCAA Division II Menlo College in Atherton. Licon, a 2-time all-conference selection, was the SCC North Libero of the Year. She received Jo Ann Zwanziger Award as part of the PCC Athletics postseason Jensen awards.
Licon played as an All-SCC Second Teamer in her freshman year of 2022, missed the '23 season due to injury, then returned to break the single season PCC record for digs with 398. Licon finished also with a new PCC school record of 675 career digs and she served 67 aces. She led the entire SCC in digs average at 4.80 per set.
Hoon, who recorded the fourth-highest, PCC single-season total for kills with 318, will be playing/attending D2 Hawaii Pacific, located in Honolulu. The 5-foot-11 outside hitter, a local product of Arcadia High, earned All-SCC First Team honors and received a Jensen Transfer award. Hoon was second in the SCC in total kills.
Vongfak, who started most of the '24 season at setter, is moving her talents to D3 University of La Verne. Also from Arcadia HS, Vongfak averaged a conference best 6.28 assists per set and led the SCC in total aces with 52. She added 177 digs and had career totals of 680 assists, 330 digs and 80 aces.
Hoon and Vongfak played on PCC teams that combined to finish 35-22 with consecutive appearances in the SoCal Regional Playoffs. Licon was also a member of the '22 squad that was 17-8 as she also played on two teams that advanced to the postseason.
PCC head coach Mike Terrill's list of playing transfers is now at 25 student-athletes in eight full seasons directing the program.
