Jeremy Camacho, a 2-time, All-South Coast Conference honorable mention infielder on the Pasadena CIty College baseball team in 2007 and 2009, passed away at age 34 on Dec. 10. Cause of death was not released as he is the second player from the '09 Lancers to have passed after outfielder Tyler Craig died in an auto accident 15 months ago.

Camacho was a 2-sport star student-athlete at Eagle Rock High, an All-L.A. City quarterback in football and a multiple-awarded shortstop good enough to be drafted in the 45th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Rookie Draft by the Seattle Mariners.

Camacho joined the Lancers as a freshman starting shortstop in 2007, batting .305 with a team-leading 20 RBI and 51 hits. After redshirting in 2008, he returned to PCC in 2009 as the starting second baseman. He again led the team in hits (43), batting .309 and proved to be outstanding in the field with a .957 fielding percentage while topping PCC in assists with 106.

Since statistics kept going back to 1993, he is one of only four PCC players to lead the team in total hits as both a freshman and sophomore.

After PCC, Camacho made history at his prep home in coaching the 2016 Eagle Rock baseball team to its first-ever L.A. City 2-A title as the Eagles beat Franklin High, 10-6, in the championship game played at Dodger Stadium. He later coached at Lincoln High.

Craig, a member of the 2008-09 Lancers teams, died in an accident near his home in Alexandria, Louisiana on Aug. 16, 2021. He was 35. Craig led PCC in stolen bases in both his seasons, finishing with 42. From Monrovia High, Craig earned a playing scholarship to Campbellsville University in Kentucky.

A memorial service for Camacho will be held on Friday, Dec. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the Glendale Funeral Home (511 S Central Ave, Glendale, CA 91204).
