After two seasons of being an integral part of a 2-time, playoff participant Pasadena City College men's basketball team, sophomore guard Deen Abdur-Rahmann has earned a playing scholarship to attend Azusa Pacific University.
Abdur-Rahmann, nicknamed just "The Deen" during PCC home games, signed with the NCAA Division II college after earning both All-South Coast Conference North Division First Team and All-State honorable mention this past season.
In his two years, the Lancers were 41-20 as he was the team's "Sixth Man" and eventually a full-time starter during conference and postseason play as a freshman when he helped PCC advance to the SoCal Regional Finals.
He became a full-time starter as a sophomore as he averaged 13 points and five rebounds in all 30 games for the Lancers in 2023-24.
Abdur-Rahmann finished with 622 career points, good enough for #53 on the PCC All-Time Scoring List.
From Atlantic City, New Jersey, Abdur-Rahmann redshirted at MiraCosta College before joining the Lancers for head coach Ryan Frazer's first season at PCC in the 2022-23 campaign. The program went from winning one game a season prior to Frazer and Abdur-Rahmann's arrival to a 22-9 season in 2022-23, then 19-11 this past season.
During his Lancers run, he shot an efficient 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line. A strong outside shooter, he totaled 84 shots from outside the 3-point arc, 65 as a sophomore.
"Deen is a special player for me as he was a big part of our successful start here in turning around the PCC program," Frazer said. "His contributions as both a shooter, passer and defender helped us earn two playoff appearances and three regional victories in his two seasons. We expect him to keep doing great things at APU."
