    The #9 seeded Pasadena City College softball team saw its 2019 season end in the same spot it did last year--at Santiago Canyon College. The Lancers were swept by the #8 Hawks, losing 4-2 and 8-3 on May 3-4 in the SoCal Regional First Round, best-of-3 games series.

    Last year, Britney Lopez twirled the Pasadena City College softball team's first no-hitter in 13 years in a 7-inning shutout over Saddleback. With an 0-2 record in her first five starts this season, the sophomore figured there was one sure-fire way to pick up her first 2019 win--pitch another no-hitter. She did just that on Tuesday as she only had to throw five innings to no-hit Los Angeles Harbor in a 9-0 Lancers victory at Robinson Park.

    While Pasadena City College's pitching has been a brightspot all season, the Lancers softball team's hitting has seen some ups and downs. In the last two days, the Lancers mustered just one run combined in losing to last year's South Coast Conference North Division and South Division champions--Mt. San Antonio and El Camino.

PCC improves to 5-1 in South Coast Conference games and won its sixth in the last seven contests.

    Prior to this week, Pasadena City College freshman pitcher Austyn Helmuth was searching for her first collegiate victory after five appearances this season. By the end of the week, Helmuth completed a whirlwind 6-day period in recording three wins, including two shutouts, and a save.

    The softball rivalry between South Coast Conference North Division opponents Pasadena City College and East Los Angeles continues to be heated with many close games over the last several years. But going back to 2015, the Lancers have held the upper hand. On Tuesday at Robinson Park, PCC extended its winning streak against Huskies' teams to seven straight and won for the 10th time in their last 11 meetings by a typically close 5-4 count.

    Vivian Little pitched five no-hit innings while Olivia Nanez continued her hot hitting as the Pasadena City College softball team downed Cerritos, 6-1, Tuesday in a South Coast Conference game at Robinson Park. The contest was originally scheduled to be played on the road, but Cerritos' field was unplayable.

    Thirteen different players collected hits and 12 drove in at least one run during the Pasadena City College softball team's 19-1, South Coast Conference-opening and home-opening offensive show over Compton at Robinson Park on Thursday. The game was called after 4-1/2 innings due to the 8-run mercy rule.
