Harris Selected 1st South Coast Conference Softball MVP From PCC Since 2005

Pasadena City College sophomore third baseman Jaimie Harris was chosen as Co-Player of the Year of the South Coast Conference by coaches at their annual postseason coaches meeting held Friday at Rio Hondo College. Harris becomes the first Lancer conference MVP since Traci Trujillo in 2005. Harris shared the award with Mt. San Antonio infielder Janis Espinoza.

Also making the 2023 All-SCC Team from the Lancers were sophomore first baseman Marcella Ordonez (First Team) and letterman pitcher Kiley Kraft (Second Team). Honorable mentions went to sophomores in shortstop Danielle Ruiz and pitcher Austyn Helmuth

Harris (from Glendale High) closed out a banner regular season that saw her lead the SCC in home runs (11) and RBI (46), both single-season school records. She led the conference in slugging percentage (.800) and extra-base hits with 27 (14 doubles and two triples to go with her long ball hits) and batted .408 overall. Harris had several game-winning hits in a rebound season for PCC, the fourth-place finisher in the South Coast at 24-16 overall and 16-8 in conference games.

"I am so proud of Jaimie's journey and ecstatic that the conference recognized the level of player she is," said PCC head coach Monica Tantlinger. "She is so deserving of this honor and I hope she realizes the magnitude of this accolade. To be able to coach a 'Player of the Year' is something I will never forget."

Ordonez (Roosevelt HS)  hit .379 and was third in the regular season in SCC on-base percentage at .513. The lefty hitter is a slick defensive player as well who had a .991 fielding percentage in 316 chances. Kraft (Ramona Convent Secondary) was sixth in the conference in ERA at 1.90 and led PCC with an 11-5 pitching record in a team-high 103.1 innings.
