After missing out last year, the Pasadena City College softball team qualified for the 2023 Southern California Regional Playoffs led by All-State third baseman Jaimie Harris.

Earning the #14 seed, the Lancers (24-16) will play at #3 seed Cypress in a best-of-3-game series this Friday-Saturday, May 5-6. PCC opens with a 1:45 p.m. game on Friday and the series continues on Saturday with an 12 noon second game start. A third game follows at 2 p.m. if necessary.

Harris, recently named the South Coast Conference Co-MVP, was picked to the 3CFCA All-State Team, the first time a Lancer has been chosen since outfielder-pitcher Traci Trujillo in 2005. In both cases, the players were Co-MVPs of the South Coast. Current assistant coach Kaylee Medrano was the last All-SoCal selection in 2019 as a shortstop.

Coach Monica Tantlinger's Lancers play a Cypress team at 34-6 after winning the Orange Empire Conference title. The Chargers are led by All-State and OEC MVP Emily Rush, third in the state in home runs (13) and a 25-win pitcher in the circle. Harris is fifth in the state with her PCC single-season record 11 homers.

Pasadena is also paced by All-SCC First Team first baseman Marcella Ordonez, All-SCC Second Team pitcher Kiley Kraft, and conference honorable mentions in shortstop Danielle Ruiz and pitcher Austyn Helmuth

Ironically, the last time PCC faced Cypress in the regional playoffs turned out to be the final game of PCC Hall of Fame head coach Sandi Iverson's career, an elimination loss to the Chargers during a 4-team, first round mini regional in the 2006 playoffs.

Per 3C2A regulations, Admission at Cypress College will be $12 general, $8 for children under 12 and seniors 55+
