Shorststop Breanna Negrete started and capped a 6-run, fifth inning with a pair of singles as the Pasadena City College softball team ran away from Glendale, 11-3, in a non-conference game at Robinson Park on Tuesday.

The 11 runs are a 2024 season high for PCC.

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Negrete singled to center followed by a double to right by lefty-hitting first baseman Adriana Valdez. Designated player Monica Gutierrez and third baseman Alysa Rojas each delivered opposite-field RBI basehits for a 5-3 lead. Negrete would later knock in two more with a single to right for a 9-3 advantage.

The Lancers (5-23 overall) finished it off with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to reach the 8-run mercy rule.

Eight of the team's starting nine hit safely with Negrete (3-for-4, double, two stolen bases) and Rojas (3-for-4, double) leading the way. Leftfielder Natalie Shahin went 2-for-3 with a 2-RBI double in the second innning while infielder Alexis Garcia batted 2-for-4.

Starting pitcher Ivy Avalos scatted seven hits and allowed just one earned run in five innings of work for her third win in the circle this season. Reliever Leiana Rodriguez pitched a scoreless sixth.

Coach Audriana Gutierrez's Lancers play another non-conference game at Santiago Canyon on Wednesday, April 10 (3 p.m.) before playing back-to-back, South Coast Conference games at Cerritos (Thursday, April 11, 3 p.m.) and back at Robinson Park v. East Los Angeles on Friday, April 12 (1 p.m.)
