PCC Swimmers Petersen, Padilla Shine At SCC Pentathlon

Pasadena City College men's team swimmer Michael Petersen was third overall in the 100-yard breaststroke and women's team swimmer Emily Padilla took seventh in the 100 butterfly as the Lancers top performers at the South Coast Conference Pentathlon held at El Camino College on Friday.

The entire SCC participated in a preview of the who's who in conference this season. 

Petersen swam a 1:01.27 time in the breaststroke event and also scored eighth in the 100 freestyle (51.47), dropping last week's time by .06. The freshman was 11th in both the 100 backstroke (1:00.64) and 200 individual medley (2:11.68). 

Frosh Paul Aguilan took ninth in the 100 butterfly at 57 flat and had personal bests in the 100 backstroke (1:05.23, 21st) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.21, 34th). 

Padilla swam her 100 fly event in 1:08.81, dropping her best time last year by an impressive four seconds. The sophomore was also 19th in the 200 IM at 2:43.63.

Also for the women's squad, Emily Wang scored 29th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:30 flat.
