The Pasadena City College men's swim team edged host Chaffey, 86-75, to open the South Coast Conference dual meet schedule on Friday at the Panthers' off-campus Fontana Park Pool.

The Lancers were paced by Michael Petersen and Hazem Abdelaty, who each won their three events. 

Peterson won in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.17, the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.91, and the 100 freestyle in 51.19. Abdelaty took first place in the 1,000 freestyle (11:40.80, his personal best time in that event by more than a minute), the 200 butterfly in 2:31.19 (best time by three seconds), and 500 freestyle in 5:44.62 (also his best by one second).

Ethan Toro swam second in the 50 freestyle (26.69) and Brian Moran placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:42.26). 

Swimming unopposed, the 400 freestyle relay squad of Petersen, Toro, Xerses Carmen, and Moran won in 4:32.64. 

WOMEN: Chaffey 94, Lancers 68

Emily Padilla highlighted the PCC women's team in its SCC dual loss to Chaffey as she won the 200 freestyle (2:17.45), the 200 butterfly (2:41.45, personal best by six seconds), and 500 freestyle (6:26.41).

Emily Wang scored the win the 200 breaststroke in 3:11, her best time this season. Wang was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.86, just .75 of a second behind Chaffey winner Kaila Garcia and she was second in the 50 freestyle (32.43).

The squad of Padilla, Wang, Genesis Rojas and Jingxuan Chen won the 400 freestyle relay in 5:28.60.
