Petersen Wins 100 Breaststroke At Riverside Invitational

Michael Petersen went up against some of the state's best and the Pasadena CIty College men's swim team freshman won the 100-yard breaststroke event at the Riverside City College Invitational on Mar. 8-9.

Petersen swam a 1:01.36 time in helping the Lancers men place ninth as a team. He also scored 15th in the 50 freestyle at 22.58 seconds. 

Hazem Abdelaty was 12th in the 1,650 freestyle (19:39.40) and 21st in the 500 freestyle (5:35.49). The 200 medley relay of Petersen, Ethan Toro, Abdelaty and Xerxes Carmen placed 11th in at 2:02.13 and the same four was 16th in the 200 free relay (1:46.67). 

Carmen placed 19th in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.39) and Toro took 27th in the 500 free (5:52.03). 

On the women's side, the Lancers placed 10th as a team as Emily Padilla scored seventh in the 1,650 freestyle (21:17.99), 10th in the 500 freestyle (6:04.38), and 14th in the 200 freesytle (2:19.43). 

Emily Wang placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke (3:13.90) and 14th in the 200 individual medley with a a personal best 3:06.48. The 200 free relay of Padilla, Wang, Genesis Rojas and Jingxuan Chen scored 14th in 2:15.23.
