Fifth Place For Women's Track/Field At SCC Finals

SCC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

After placing fifth at the South Coast Conference Championships April 23/27, the Pasadena City College women's track and field team were pleased with the announcement that sprinter Jaylin Morgan and thrower Melissa Le have qualified for the upcoming SoCal Prelims.

PCC totaled 26.5 team points at the conference meet held at El Camino College as it scored in seven events. Morgan placed second in the 400 meters in 58.94 seconds and finished sixth in the 200 dash at 26.01. 

Le was fourth in the javelin at 97 feet, 5 inches while taking seventh in the discus 92-9.

Julianna Antunez scored tied for fourth in the high jump on a leap of 4-3.25 and was seventh in the long jump at 15-2.25. Katherine Valverde scored seventh in the pole vault at 7-8.5.

Morgan's time in the 400 is the 14th fastest in the state this year, and also has a best time of 25.46 in the 200 (#20 in the state). Le has a best of 104-3 in the javelin, which is 16th in the state. 

The SoCal Prelims take place Friday, May 3 at Cerritos College.
