As a member of the South Coast Conference, the Lancers women's volleyball team each season faces several Top 25 state ranked teams.
Current PCC head coach Mike Terrill guided PCC to the most victories in an undefeated run to a conference title by the '21 Lancers who finished 18-0 to win the 9-team South Coast Conference title. He directed back-to-back SCC North Division championships in 2017 and 2018. He was named SCC Coach of the Year in '17.
In 2021, Nalani Young became PCC's first-ever AVCA All-American selection (Third Team) and was the PCC 2021-22 Women's Athlete of the Year for all sports.
In 2018, Pamela Galvan was named the SCC Libero of the Year and set a PCC school record for digs in a season with 360. Outside hitter Paige Clingaman became the third volleyball player to receive the college’s prestigious President’s Award as part of the Elizabeth Jensen scholarships.
In 2017, setter Emily Leung was selected as just the third South Coast Conference Player of the Year in Lancers history with outside hitter Patti Blasco (2009) and libero Jennifer Estrada (2012).
The Lancers had a streak of six straight seasons advancing to the Southern California regional playoffs from 2008-2013 snapped in 2014. PCC since has made it to the SoCal playoffs in five of the last six seasons.
PCC won its first-ever South Coast Conference title in 2009 under then head coach Tammy Silva. The team was rated as high as No. 2 in the State Top 25 Rankings during the regular season and was the region’s No. 1 seed entering the playoffs. Blasco and setter Jessica Xu each were All-State selections. The Lancers later became co-SCC champions in 2012.
2012-13 All-SCC outside hitter Nora To’omalatai set school records for most kills (668) in a career and in a season (414) in 2013. Her 94 career aces is also a PCC record.
PCC's home court of Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium was the host site of the CCCAA State Championship Tournament in 2008 after also being state hosts in 1999 and 2001.
The PCC women's volleyball program has four members in the school's Sports Hall of Fame. Former Head Coach and student-athlete Lori Jepsen (1979-2002) entered the Hall in 2002, and All-State Tournament selection Sarah Goodlaw (1995 middle blocker) entered the prestigious Hall in 2005. Jepsen also was inducted into the CCCWVCA Hall of Fame in 2008. Goodlaw’s teammates on the ’95 team, Gina Punaro and Mary Morgan both were part of the 2016 PCC HOF class.
In 1989-90, middle blocker Cynthia King was an All-Conference player and was college’s first student-athlete to become class valedictorian.
Pasadena's most successful finish in volleyball was the 1995 season when the Lancers placed third at the State Championship Tournament, making it into the Final 8 tourney.
The Lancers placed fifth at the state tournament in 1987 and 1990.
