    Freshman Briana Santos was Pasadena City College's lone member on the 2017 All-South Coast Conference Women's Water Polo First Team. Lancers sophomores Zuri Pulido and Christy Lam made All-SCC Second Team.

    The Pasadena City College women's water polo team went 1-2 at the South Coast Conference Championships Nov. 3-4 at Mt. San Antonio College. The Lancers settled for sixth place in the SCC after losing the fifth place final and season finale to East Los Angeles, 14-10.

    The Pasadena City College women's water polo team will enter the South Coast Conference Tournament next month on a 3-game conference win streak. The Lancers downed host El Camino, 7-5, on Wednesday and improved to 3-5 in SCC games.
  • Highest Scoring Game Marks WWP's Rally To Beat ELAC, 18-16

    Trailing by as much as 14-10 with a minute left in the third quarter, the Pasadena City College women's water polo team staged a furious comeback, scoring seven goals in the fourth period for a wild, 18-16, South Coast Conference victory over East Los Angeles College. Wednesday's contest marked the highest scoring home game (two teams) in PCC WWP history. The Aquatic Center officially opened in 2000.

    Yesenia Marin led four different Lancers with at least three goals as the Pasadena City College women's water polo team entered the win column in South Coast Conference play, downing LA Trade Tech, 16-5, at the Aquatic Center on Wednesday.

    The Pasadena City College women's water polo team followed a 2-2 run at the College of San Mateo Tournament Sept. 29-30 with a South Coast Conference game Monday against visiting Rio Hondo. The Lancers had many more scoring chances than the Roadrunners but gave up the deciding goal with 33 seconds left in a tough 9-8 defeat.

    One look at Wednesday's 15-4 loss to first-place Long Beach City College would lead you to believe that the Pasadena City College women's water polo team is way behind the competition. But while the Lancers are 1-5 and 0-4 in South Coast Conference play, a different outlook is that the team has already showed signs of improvement that could lead to some success in the next few weeks.
  • Marin Can't Miss In Women's Water Polo

    Freshman Yesenia Marin scored five goals on all five of her shot attempts in the Pasadena City College women's water polo team's 16-1 victory over Santa Ana Sept. 9. That meant Marin had remarkably scored on her first eight collegiate shots this season. While she finally was stopped in the opening quarter of the team's third game against San Diego Miramar, Marin still cashed in two more goals in an 11-8 loss to the Jets to cap the the LA Valley Tournament.

    For the last few years, the Pasadena City College women's water polo team has been defined by its defense. The Lancers played many low-scoring games and had some of the program's lowest goals against averages in both 2016 and 2015. But in 2017, the Lancers' roster has shaped up to become one with better overall shooters as offense is going to be more of a premium.
