Harold Novis was a captain and guard on the first Pasadena Junior College football team in 1925. While a stalwart on the gridiron, Novis was an accomplished swimmer in the 220-yard and 440-yard freestyle as well as the backstroke. His coach Leland McAuley called Harold "one of the best of his time."
