Jim Fairchild was considered the first great gymnast at PCC as he never lost a competition in the pommel horse event in his two seasons here. He won the state and conference titles in the event in 1958 and 1959. Fairchild proceeded to become a two-time NCAA champion in the pommel horse while at UC Berkeley.
