A four-sport star at PCC, Larry Ross excelled at his best in football. On the 1953 team, Ross, an end, led the Bulldogs in scoring and helped them achieve an undefeated 11-0 season. He set then school records with 27 receptions, 490 yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns. PCC won the Potato Bowl and national title. As a freshman, Ross was an All-American honorable mention in 1952. In that same year, the 6-foot-5 Ross was the heavyweight boxing champion at Pasadena Golden Gloves. From 1952-54, he played two seasons as a rebounding forward on the basketball team. On the '53 track and field team, he was a thrower and led the team in the shot put with a 49-1/4 feet toss.
