Tyler Garcia, who set a Pasadena City College baseball record by hitting home runs in four consecutive games, was selected as CCCBCA Southern California Player of the Week #5 for February 24-March 2.
Garcia put together a glorious week, one in which the Lancers swept a 3-game series v. LA Harbor, as the sophomore centerfielder batted .583, going 7-12, scoring 10 runs with four home runs, a double and seven RBI.
Garcia's home run streak began with a dinger in a Feb. 22 series finale at Rio Hondo. He slugged homers in each of the wins over Harbor, including two bombs in the series finale on March 1.
He is ninth in the state in hitting (.462), tied for third in on-base percentage (.600) and his 1.051 slugging percentage leads California players.
In Tuesday's 12-3 loss at state #4-ranked Cerritos, Garcia's home run streak ended but he still rocked a double and triple.
