Ivan Ostry Chosen For 3 Spots As Part of Football's All-SCFA AML Selections

Sophomore slot receiver Ivan Ostry was selected at three different positions to highlight the Pasadena City College football team's selections on the 2022 All-SCFA American Mountain League Team.

Ostry was picked First Team Offense at all-purpose, Second Team Offense at wide receiver, and Second Team Defense at kick returner. He was one of 14 Lancers earning playing honors.

Ostry (from La Canada High) led the entire SCFA in kick return yards average at 30.2 yards per return (second in the state), including running back touchdowns in consecutive weeks. He led PCC in a number of categories, including most receptions with 30 for 377 yards. He tied for the team lead in touchdowns with six, scoring on two kick returns, two runs and two receptions. He averaged 108.1 all-purpose yards per game, ninth in the SCFA. Twice, Ostry was a SCFA Special Teams Player of the Week this season.

Outside linebacker Jaylon McGee (Charter Oak HS) became a 2-time, All-SCFA First Team selection on defense after finishing second on the Lancers in tackles (52), sacks (eight), and quarterback hurries (six). Defensive tackle Carlos Ramirez is a 2-time, All-SCFA choice behind 46 tackles, a team-high 11 sacks (sixth in the state), and three QB hurries. His 16.5 tackles for loss is eighth best in California. Ramirez is from Muir High. 

Offensive center Steven Ortiz (6-0, 260, Schurr High) also achieved his second All-SCFA selection being named to the First Team Offense along with freshman offensive tackle Guadalupe Cedillo (6-4, 320, Arleta HS). Frosh kicker and team-leading scorer Justin Vergara (Garfield HS) also made First Team after making 7-for-9 on field goals, 28-for-30 on extra points and totaling 49 points. Vergara hit six touchbacks on kickoffs and averaged better than 50 yards per kickoff. 

Achieving First Team Defense is 2-time conference selection and defensive end Michelangelo Loretto (Arcadia High), who totaled 44 tackles, 8.5 sacks, three hurries, two fumble recoveries and an interception, and another 2-time choice in safety Osvaldo Raigosa (Gabrielino High), who led the Lancers in tackles (58 and solos) with two interceptions, two breakups and a sack. 

Making Second Team Defense is 2-time, All-SCFA AML choice in inside linebacker Jordan Monroe, who made 48 tackles, a team-high 11 quarterback hurries, six sacks, and forced three fumbles. Monroe (Charter Oak) made the First Team last year and was All-State.

Other Second Team choices were utility choice and another 2-time All-SCFA choice in safety Roland "Kea" Rodrigues (Moanalua, Hawaii), who had 33 tackles, two sacks and three pass breakups; frosh punter Nate Sanchez (St. Genevieve), who had a modest 31.4 yards average, but placed nine punts inside the 20; transfer sophomore tight end Isaiah Smalls (Dorsey High), who caught 21 passes for 207 yards and two TDs; freshman offensive guard Bernardo Brito (6-2, 315, Muir HS), and frosh cornerback Drake Vickers (Burbank Burroughs High), who totaled 20 tackles, two interceptions and two breakups.
