PCC Football Earns Bid To Golden State Bowl At Citrus On Nov. 22

LIST OF ALL SCFA BOWL GAMES

The Pasadena City College football team earned a trip to the Golden State Bowl as the Lancers will play against host Citrus College in a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 22.

The Lancers finished 5-5 overall, but were ranked on the State Top 25 for much of the season. At #20, Citrus (6-4) was the fourth place team from the SCFA National Northern League while the Lancers are the fifth place team from the Central League.

Citrus upset Northern champion Mt. San Antonio, 48-43, on Sept. 20. The Mounties have since advanced to be one of six teams in the SoCal Regional Playoffs.

This is the third straight year that PCC advanced to a bowl game, the last two as part of the American Championship games which PCC won last season over Chaffey, 23-14.

Even though Pasadena and Citrus are a 210 Freeway trip to each other, this will be just the ninth time the colleges have met on the gridiron with the Lancers holding a 5-3 edge in the series.

In the most recent meeting in 2021, PCC edged Citrus, 30-27. Citrus last beat PCC in the 2013 season opener, 34-21.

Guided by Director of Football Operations/Head Coach Robert Tucker, PCC is led by linebacker Coleman Morning, tight end Javery Mayberry, and running back/returner Noah Triplett, third in the SCFA in all-purpose yardage at 136.9 a game.

Directed by head coach Brandon Hayashi, Citrus has the SCFA's leading passer in quarterback Brian Salazar Jr., who has thrown for 2,833 yards and a staggering 32 touchdowns.
