Patric Panoosi, a 2-year letterman guard on the Pasadena City College men's basketball team in 2018-2020, has signed a scholarship to play at NAIA La Sierra University in Riverside. Panoosi was the Lancers third-leading scorer in 2019-2020 when he averaged 12.4 points per game and led the entire South Coast Conference in 3-point field goals made with 84.
The 6-foot-3 Panoosi totaled 121 treys over his two seasons and finished with 472 career points. PCC finished above .500 during his two Lancers years at 31-26.
His best game as a Lancer came when he made seven 3-pointers as part of a game-high 25 points in an early season victory over Imperial Valley in 2019. As a sophomore, he averaged 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game. At PCC, Panoosi (from La Canada High) played under head coach Michael Swanegan.
La Sierra has become a recent landing spot for other Lancers including forward Deandro Worrell, also a 2018-2020 performer, who is transferring to play for the Golden Eagles after playing at McMurry University (Texas). At NCAA Division III McMurry, Worrell was an All-American Southwest Conference West Division honorable mention in the abbreviated 2020-2021 season.
Another Lancers alum Ivan Egbunike played as a senior forward at La Sierra this past season, averaging 10 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per contest. Egbunike earned Phase 2 All Cal Pac Conference Team recognition. Egbunike, the son of PCC track and field/cross country head coach Innocent Egbunike, played for the Lancers in 2017-2019.
Panoosi and Worrell will play for La Sierra head coach John Janssen in the 2021-2022 season.
