Joseph Cortez, a two-year letterman at midfielder for the Pasadena City College men's soccer team, will continue his playing/academic career at a NAIA University of Antelope Valley in Lancaster.

Cortez started 12 games for PCC this past season and scored one goal. An injury kept Cortez out of the lineup in the middle of the season, and the Lancers were quite successful when he was in the lineup with a 7-3-2 mark in games he did start.

After playing his prep ball at Marshall Fundamental High, he experienced his freshman season for the Lancers in 2017 before taking a redshirt in 2018.

Cortez played at Pasadena under current head coach Gerry Mora. He will be under the guidance of head coach Jarrod Cline in playing for the Pioneers at UAV.

Cortez is the second Lancer from the 2019 team to gain a scholarship to a 4-year university.
