The Pasadena City College men's swim team is beginning to see improvement as evidenced by its best showing of the season in a South Coast Conference double dual meet held March 18 held at Chaffey College. The Lancers defeated host Chaffey, 150-97, and downed El Camino, 160-83. A PCC swimmer won in a season-best 11 out of the 15 events.

PCC improved to 2-1 in the SCC and 2-2 overall.

David Jimenez won the 100-yard backstroke (56.57 seconds) and 200 backstroke (2:06.45) and participated on both the Lancers' 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay victories. Jimenez added a second in the 50 freestyle (24.22). Phillip Lee recorded wins in the 100 freestyle (51.89) and 200 individual medley (2:09.37) while Zachary Loomer took first place in the 200 butterfly (2:14.07) and 100 butterfly (57.60). 

Jamal Amiryin-Cripps, just added to the active roster last week, captured event wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.52) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.77). Leo Nuntapramote won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:12.12. 

"This was a good time for our swimmers to reach some season bests," said PCC head coach Terry Stoddard. "With Jamal, we've added someone who can compete well in the breaststroke. We seem to have a good complement of swimmers in different events. David has been one of the best backstroke swimmers all year."
