
Sophomore Michael Petersen put together a tremendous performance for the Pasadena City College men's swim team in performing three event victories and three meet records at the 4th El Camino College Triple Distance Meet held Friday.
Petersen started things with a meet record time of 27.01 seconds to win the 50-yard breaststroke. He set another meet record in the 100 breaststroke, turning a time of 59.97. He completed the triple with another first place in the 200 breaststroke, again breaking the meet record at 2:15.65.
Petersen also took second in the 50 freestyle (22.18).
His swims helped PCC finish in fourth place out of six teams in the meet that was won by Bakersfield.
Nick Padilla scored third in the 50 backstroke (29.40), 100 backstroke (1:04.38), and 200 backstroke (2:24.16).
Ethan Toro placed seventh in the 100 freestyle (56.84) and eighth in the 500 free at 5:51.98.
Coach Terry Stoddard's Lancers open the South Coast Conference dual meet schedule on Friday, Feb. 28 in a meet v. Rio Hondo. PCC hosts at off-campus Polytechnic School Pool.
