Men's Swim's Petersen Wins 200 Breaststroke At Riverside Invite

RIVERSIDE INVITE RESULTS

In a stirring rally, Pasadena City College men's team swimmer Michael Petersen won the 200-yard breastroke event to highlight the Lancers performances at the Riverside City College Invitational held March 7-8.

Petersen's time of 2:10.69 just edged Riverside's Jared Ladinez by .11 of a second. Ladinez would win the 100 breaststroke (57.61) with Petersen placing second at 58.55. The PCC sophomore placed a close second in the 100 freestyle (48.07) as he lost out to Orange Coast's Eric Lim by just .20. 

Petersen also placed fourth in the 50 free at 21.73 and seventh in the 100 butterfly at 55.97.

As a team, PCC, directed by head coach Terry Stoddard, placed seventh out of eight colleges with 213 points.

Evan Yi scored sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:16.17), 12th in the 200 individual medley (2:14.32), 16th in the 100 backstroke (1:01.47), and 21st in the 100 free (53.48).

Ethan Toro was 18th in the 400 IM (5:19.15), 23rd in the 500 free (5:46.33) and 27th in the 100 butterfly (1:06.90), Javier Becerra 25th in the 100 back (1:10.67) and 26th in the 100 IM (1:05.53) and Haofeng Tang 29th in the 200 free (2:22.38). Andrew Morales placed 22nd in the 400 IM.

The 200 medley relay squad was fifth (1:47.21) behind Yi, Toro, Petersen and Tang. The Lancers placed eighth in the 800 free relay (8:28.53).
