Pasadena, El Camino, Chaffey Double Dual Results

Michael Petersen and Evan Yi each won three events as the Pasadena City College men's swim team split their final South Coast Conference double dual meet, defeating Chaffey, 131-126, and losing to host El Camino, 157-97, on Friday.

Petersen won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events in times of 1 minute and .02 seconds and 2:16.85 while also winning the 50 freestyle in 23.48. Yi won the 100 and 200 backstrokes (59.35, 2:15 flat) and the 100 butterfly in 56.73.

Petersen is fourth in the state in the 200 breaststroke at 2:10.69 that he set at the Riverside Invitational and he's seventh in the 100 breaststroke at 58.55, also at the RCC meet. He is 15th in the 50 free at 21.64 (at Mt. SAC Invitational). The sophomore has the El Camino pool record in the 200 breaststroke that he set last year as a freshman at 2:15.65.

Petersen's best mark in the 100 breaststroke is now the fourth fastest in PCC history.

Also at the double dual meet, Ethan Toro placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:45.18) while Javier Becerra was second to teammate Petersen in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes (1:08.32, 2:34.03).

Pasadena placed fifth in the 7-team SCC dual standings at 2-5.

The Lancers next participate in the Pasadena/ELAC Invitational at East Los Angeles College on April 3-5.
