Michael Bartle raced to fourth place in the 800 meters to highlight the performances of the Pasadena City College men's track and field team at the 2022 South Coast Conference Opener meet held at Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 4. It marked the first competition in two years for the Lancers as the 2022 season-opening meet.
Bartle, a freshman from Verdugo Hills High, won the second heat of the 800 with a time of 2:09.30, good enough for fourth overall among 14 racers. Ronnie Winn placed eighth (2:14.45).
Sophomore Asher Smith took 12th in the 300 meters at 37.61 seconds. Smith, who also played on the PCC men's soccer team, placed second in the third of four heats in the event.
PCC is not scheduled to be back in action until Feb. 19 at the Cerritos Open meet. The Lancers are directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike, now in his sixth year at PCC.
