The Pasadena City College softball team continues to bash the ball on offense in winning three of its last four games in a solid start to the 2024 season under first-year head coach Audriana Gutierrez.

The Lancers (3-3 overall) have scored 34 runs in the four games, totaling 37 hits in the past three games alone.

On Feb. 16, PCC went on the road to post a 10-1, 5-inning victory over Ventura. In that win, shortstop and leadoff hitter Alyssa Hernandez batted 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base, third baseman Alexis Garcia hit 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, designated player Alysa Rojas was 2-for-3 with a double, second baseman Adriana Valdez went 2-for-3, first baseman Monica Gutierrez continued her run-producing efforts on a 2-for-4 with two RBI, catcher Breanna Negrete hit 1-for-3 with two ribbies, rightfielder Elizabeth Avalos was 1-for-3 with a double, and winning pitcher Leiana Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Rodriguez allowed five hits, no walks and struck out three for the pitching victory to improve to 2-1 in the circle.

In a 5-run, fourth inning, Gutierrez delivered a 2-run single and Garcia a 2-RBI double.

On Feb. 15, the Lancers lost a slugfest at Chaffey, 14-8. Catcher Alyssa Guzman batted 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a steal and Gutierrez hit 2-for-4 with four RBI. Valdez and Rodriguez, playing second base, each were 2-for-4 while Hernandez was 1-for-4 with a triple.

Hernandez leads the team in batting average with a .529 clip and six stolen bases. Gutierrez is hitting .421 with two home runs and already a South Coast Conference-high 13 RBI in just six games (.789 slugging percentage). Guzman is batting .368 while Valdez is at .353.

Due to the rain this week, check this website for changes in the schedule. As of today, PCC is scheduled to host El Camino College in the team's SCC opener on Thursday, Feb. 22 in a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
