The Pasadena City College women's badminton 2022 season ended with a whimper as the Lancers were left out in both championship and consolation singles and doubles at the CCCAA State Individual Championships at Fresno City College Friday-Saturday.

In championship bracket play, Cindy Zhao, the South's #5 seed, was swept by North #4 De Anza's Madison Moe, 21-13, 21-14, and Nikki Ching, South #8, was beaten by North #1/De Anza's Vanessa Dinh, 21-3, 21-8. In consolation singles, the same De Anza player, Heather Lee, first eliminated Ching, 21-13, 21-8, and then Zhao in conso semifinals, 21-17, 21-12. Zhao had won her first consolation match over Fresno's Priscilla Lee, 19-21, 21-16, 21-15.

In championship doubles, Zhao-Ching (South #3 seed) beat Fresno's Natalie Xiong-Eve Vang, 21-11, 21-14, then were knocked out by North's #1 Moe-Malaya Paras-Mangrobang (De Anza), 21-10, 21-9. The South #6 PCC pair of Charlene Chen and Karen Chen (not related) was swept by FCC's #3 seed Uyen Napier-Souphany Siphanh, 21-5, 21-4. Chen-Chen lost in doubles consolation to El Camino's Marina Mongaki-Julie Foster, 21-8, 21-3.

You have to go back to 2014 or before Jen Ho became Lancers head coach in 2015 that the Lancers didn't at least have a state runner-up in either individual singles or doubles. That season, PCC also did not earn a consolation medal (first or second).
