Women's Soccer Places 4 On All-SCC 1st/2nd Teams

After a season that featured a 6-game undefeated streak, the Pasadena City College women's soccer team placed four players on the All-South Coast Conference First and Second Teams.

The Lancers, who finished in fifth place at 7-11-3 overall and 5-6-3 in the conference, received First Team recognition for sophomore midfielder Rachel Schroeder and sophomore defender Michelle Morales. Schroeder (Arcadia High) scored five goals and two assists while Morales (Burbank High) provided stellar defense as a center back (and a goal, three assists).

On the All-SCC Second Team were freshman midfielder Sandra Ambrosio and sophomore midfielder Leila Farazdaghi. Ambrosio (Arroyo) led the team in scoring with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists while Farazdaghi (Burbank) was second on the squad with six goals and two assists (14 points).

Freshman defender Kelly Youssef (Monrovia), who tallied a goal and three assists, was named conference honorable mention.

"We scored nearly at a two goals a game pace and 11 different players reached the net, so that's a big improvement from 2014," said PCC head coach Reggie Rivas. "It was gratifying to get five players recognized for their performance. We are heading in the right direction."

In the team's season finale on November 13, the Lancers rallied for a 4-4 tie against Los Angeles Harbor on Sophomore Night at Robinson Stadium. Both teams traded own goals and it was Ambrosio's penalty kick goal in the 57th minute that was game-tying shot. Sophomore forward Ani Hemelians (Crescenta Valley High) scored a goal and had one assist and redshirt midfielder Nathalie Feil (Verdugo Hills) netted a 15-yard drive for the game's first goal in the opening minute.

Forward Alexandra Bissell (Pete Knight High), forward Elena Heuze (from the Philippines), and defender Margarita Munoz (Blair High) joined Morales, Hemelians, Schroeder, and Farazdaghi in their final Lancers games.
