The Pasadena City College women's soccer team outscored host LA Harbor, 4-3, in penalty kicks to decide fifth place in the South Coast Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The Lancers officially tied the Seahawks, 2-2, thus ending a fine second season under head coach Terryn Soelberg.

"I'm really proud of this team and our season," Soelberg said. "We had seven sophomores who were a major part of this program, a majority of them starters as freshmen. As a core group, they will be greatly missed."

Trailing 1-0 in the opening minute of the second half, Olivia Aguilar fed a pass to Isabela Guerrero for her ninth goal of the season, allowing the freshman forward to overtake teammate Megan Schmidt for the team's scoring title with 27 points (Schmidt had a team-high 11 goals and 26 total points).

In the 65th minute, PCC grabbed a 2-1 lead as Mia Bedoyan knocked in a corner kick by Gabby Morales. The lead was short-lived as Harbor's Nylah Tardy scored just four minutes later to tie it.

In the penalty kicks, Aguilar, Schmidt, Andrea Sanchez and Bedoyan all hit the back of the net to insure a "win" only in the respect of placing for the SCC tourney. In goal for PCC, starter Christina Echeverrie played the first half and stopped four shots while Jesua Garcia played the second half and also made four saves.

PCC lost the SCC Tournament opener at El Camino, 3-0, on Nov. 4 and earned a 1-1 tie in the conference round robin finale at Rio Hondo on Nov. 1. In that game, Guerrero scored on a breakaway from a lead pass by Schmidt in the 54th minute for the tying score. Echeverrie played one of her best games of the year with 12 saves.

This includes Aguilar (six goals, five assists), Morales (one goal, team-high 11 assists), Bedoyan (four goals, four assists), defenders in center-back Avery Romero and Angie Alvarado (four assists), and reserve goalies Jesua Garcia and Stevie Mancillas
