The longest undefeated streak in the history of Pasadena City College women's soccer continued on Friday as the state #11-ranked Lancers edged visiting #20 College of the Desert, 2-1. PCC have not been beaten in now 11 straight games at 7-0-4.

PCC is one of just five teams left in the state undefeated with the others being #5 Long Beach City (5-0-3), #1 Saddleback (7-0-1), #T6 Folsom Lake (7-0-1), and unranked Skyline (6-0-1).

Angely Puga scored in the 76th minute on an assist by Delilah Vazquez that broke a 1-1 tie. It was Puga's second game-winning goal as she made a great individual play to get through two defenders and the goalie for the score. Desert (7-3) had tied it on a Ruby Segura goal in the 61st minute.

The Lancers grabbed a 1-0 halftime lead on Alexa Espinoza-Gutierrez's goal in the 40th minute on a rebound off a shot by Bertha Guzman initially saved by COD goalie Perla Melchor-Hernandez.

In the all-important, power point ratings, PCC stands #10 in the state and seventh in SoCal.

The Lancers are 5-0-1 at Robinson Stadium this season.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, PCC begins South Coast Conference play with a 6 p.m. game at Los Angeles Harbor College. The Seahawks are 2-5-2.
