![A #2 Seed, Offensive MVP, Coach of the Year As Women's Soccer Pulls In Honors](/sports/msoc/2024-25/photos/sccwsoc.jpg)
The Pasadena City College women's soccer team is seeing the fruits of its labor as the awards and recognition are pouring in. First, the Lancers were selected as the #2 seed with a first round bye for this week's start of the SoCal Regional Playoffs. Then PCC learned midfielder Charlie Gallardo was named the South Coast Conference North Division Offensive Player of the Year while head coach Terryn Soelberg chosen SCC North Coach of the Year.
Soelberg made history as the first COTY in PCC women's soccer history in fitting a year in which PCC earned its highest playoff seeding, set a school record for victories with an 18-1-1 record, set a new mark for longest winning streak, currently at 10 games, and recently winning the school's first SCC Tournament championship.
A sophomore midfielder, Gallardo was named North MVP after leading the entire 10-team SCC in scoring with 17 goals, eight assists for 42 points. She scored three hat tricks in the regular season and five multi-goal games overall. Gallardo's 68 career points places her #7 on the PCC All-Time Scoring List. Gallardo is a 2-time, All-SCC First Team choice.
PCC will host its first playoff ever at Robinson Stadium when the Lancers play the winner of #15 LA Pierce and #18 El Camino on Saturday, Nov. 23. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. for the Round 2 contest.
The Lancers had six other players receive conference recogniton as First Team selections went to sophomore defender Itzel Nunez, sophomore midfielder Delilah Vazquez, and letterman goalie Francesca Agliolo.
Also a 2-time First Team selection, Nunez is one of the state's best defenders as she has helped the team to a school-record 14 shutouts. Vazquez is the conference leader in assists with 10 (plus three goals) while Agliolo led the conference in goals against average at 0.40 and save percentage at a sparkling .922, third in the state.
The All-SCC North Second Team Lancers are 2-time choices in sophomore forward Isabela Guerrero and second-year defender Destiny Delgado and freshman midfielder Monique Arciniega.
Guerrero, who has four goals and five assists, is a tremendous striker who has been a steady performer in a career that started as the team's top scorer in 2022. Her 15 goals, 14 assists and 44 points places her #18 on the Lancers scoring list.
Delgado continues to be one of the best defenders in the SCC as she has made it a habit to be always be in position and join Nunez as a dynamic defensive duo. Arciniega (one goal, two assists) is the team's top newcomer and has displayed a strong presence in moving the ball upfield and defending as well.
