Women's Swim 3rd Place In Dual Season

The Pasadena City College women's swim team settled for third place in the South Coast Conference dual meet standings at 6-2 after a split in its conference finale meet at Chaffey College on Mar. 31. 

PCC lost to El Camino, 156.5-101.5, and defeated Chaffey, 138-61. PCC finished behind Mt. San Antonio (first, 8-0) and El Camino (7-1) in the conference duals.

Jocelyn Jo won three events, taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.62) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.89), and swimming her season best of 2:19.56 to triumph in the 200 individual medley. 

Anais Hacobian tied for the win in the 50 freestyle (26.46), then recorded victories in the 100 freestyle (58.06) and 100 butterfly (1:08.98). Melissa Cienega captured wins in the 200 freestyle (2:01.40) and 200 backstroke (2:22.29), and took second in the 200 butterfy (2:21.4). 

PCC will host the 17th Pasadena Invitational Thursday-Saturday, April 6-8, at the Aquatic Center. Diving only on Thursday, then swim events on the final two days. 

In the state top 10, Cienega is No. 3 in the 200 freestyle (1:57.76) and 1,000 freestyle (11:34.84), and No. 4 in the 500 freestyle (5:18.11). Jo is No. 5 in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.77) and No. 7 in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.68).
