Men's/Women's Swimming Post Best Times At SCC Championships

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Michael Petersen qualifies for three events and will swim at the 3C2A State Championships on Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4 at Orange Coast College.

 

The Pasadena City College men's and women's swim teams posted several 2024 best times at the South Coast Conference Championships held April 18-20 at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Lancers men placed sixth in the team standings with 183 points as Mt. SAC won the team title. The PCC women were eighth with Long Beach CC taking the team crown.

For the men, Michael Petersen placed third in both the 50-yard freestyle (21.86 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (59.15), and he picked up a fifth place in the 100 freestyle (47.80). He beat his fastest previous marks in all three events.

The women were highlighted by Emily Padilla, who scored a third place medal in the 200 butterfly (2:32.26), fourth in the 1,650 freestyle (20:05.69, beating her best time by 13.37), and sixth in the 500 freestyle (5:48.82).
