Women's Track 5th At SCC Championships

The Pasadena City College women's track and field team scored in just four events and settled for sixth place with 14 points overall at the South Coast Conference Prelims and Championships held April 23/27 at Cerritos College.

Host Cerritos won the team title with 292 points, followed by Mt. San Antonio 234.5, El Camino 127.5, and Long Beach City with 103. PCC finished ahead of East Los Angeles (7 points). 

Kessa Rychlick ran her season best in the Prelims at 16.01 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles but placed sixth in the Finals at 16.39 seconds. The sophomore, was was seventh in the state in the 400 meter hurdles coming into the meet, ran 1:08.38 for a PCC-meet high fourth place in the SCC. However, the time was slower than her season best of 1:05.64.

The 4x100 relay squad of Kaitlin Lee, Claire Chen, Abigail Olivares and Rychlick placed fifth in 54.49 seconds, just a little off their season best of 54.35. 

Raylin Galvan scored an eighth place in the 1,500 meters in 6:33.32. 

The PCC women's program has not finished as high as third place since 2013 and its SCC champion drought is now at five years, the last champ being Breanna Clark in the 400 meters in 2014.
