Thrower Ghazanchian Stands Out As Women's Track and Field Opens 2022 Season

Liz Ghazanchian placed third in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw as the Pasadena City College women's track and field team opened the 2022 season at the South Coast Conference Opener meet held at Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 4.

Ghazanchian threw a best of 33 feet, 1.75 inches in the shot put and tossed a 106-7 in the discus. Hannah Collazo took seventh in the shot put. 

Bay Hollinger cleared 4-9 on her third attempt to place third in the high jump. 

In the 60 meters, the fastest Lancers sprinter was Crystal Ludwig, who raced a ninth place overall in 8.78 seconds. Mia Bedoyan was 10th (9.1) and Joelyne Garcia 11th (9.39). 

Ludwig took sixth in the 200 meters (30.24) just a split second ahead of Ashley Comanescu in seventh. Bedoyan was eighth in 31.62. Jessica Coffin ran a team-best 47.62 in the 300 meters. Estrella Camacho-Rodriguez finished ninth in the 800 meters (3 minutes, 21 seconds).

Ludwig was also sixth in the 60 hurdles at 11.76.

PCC is carrying one of its largest women's rosters in several years with 16 student-athletes under head coach Innocent Egbunike, in his fifth season in charge of the sport.
