Women's Track and Field Back In Action At LBCC Meet

Thrower Liz Ghazanchian is working hard at her goal to qualify for the state meet later this year as a member of the Pasadena City College women's track and field team. The sophomore placed second in the discus for the highest finish by a Lancer at the Viking Invitational held at Long Beach City College on Friday.

Throwing in a steady rain, Ghazanchian hurled a discus a modest 99 feet, 6 inches. Currently, she is 16th in the state in the discus (best of 113-1) and 23rd in the shot put (33-3.25). She settled for a 29-0.5 and eighth place in the shot put at Long Beach. 

Ajes Phillips, a freshman from Michigan, placed third overall and won her heat in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.64.
