Women's Track And Field Begins '24 Season

Jaylin Morgan posted a solid 26.62 seconds, currently 12th fastest in the state in the 200 meters event to highlight the opening of the 2024 Pasadena City College women's track and field season at the South Coast Conference Opener Meet on Feb. 10 at El Camino College.

Morgan, a freshman from Pasadena's Marshall Fundamental High, placed fourth overall in the event that also included a sixth place by sophomore Ajes Phillips (26.91), and an eighth place by frosh Isabella Evans, from Crescenta Valley High, (28.92). 

Melissa Le, a returning thrower, placed seventh in the javelin (77-1 feet) and ninth in the discus (84-10).

At the Cerritos Open, only three college teams participated as Morgan was fourth in the 200 (26.79) while Phillips improved in her sixth place finish (26.88). Evans was eighth in 28.97.

Phillips took sixth in the 60 meters (8.43), followed by Morgan (eighth, 8.57) and Evans (ninth, 8.91).

Lee placed second in the javelin with an improved 84-8 throw and was eighth in the discus, also an improvement at 93-1. 

Frosh thrower Guadalupe Cambero (San Gabriel Mission) placed sixth in the shot put at 31-1.75 while Le was seventh in 29-1. 

Directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike in his seventh season in charge of the program, the Lancers next will be in action in the Santa Monica Classic on March 1.
