Women's Track Wins 3 Events At ECC Dave Shannon Invitational

RESULTS

Melissa Le won the javelin event, Jaylin Morgan took first place in the 400 meters, and Katherine Valverde scored a pole vault victory to highlight the Pasadena City College women's track and field performance at the El Camino Dave Shannon Invitational on Friday.

Le outdistanced seven other throwers to win the javelin in a season-best toss of 94 feet, six inches. The throw places her 20th in the state. Le also took sixth place in both the discus (74-6) and shot put (28-7.5)

In a small field of four racers, Morgan raced to a 63-second time for the event victory. She has a season-best time of 61.92 at the March 8 Long Beach Invite meet. Morgan also sprinted to third in the 200 meters at 26.88 (just off her best time of 26.62) against a larger, 12-runner field.

Valverde was the only women's pole vaulter at the meet but her modest 8-foot leap was her 2024 best and places her #23 in the state.

Directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike, the Lancers are scheduled to participate in the Post-Meridium meet at El Camino College on Friday, April 5, beginning at 1 p.m. (editor note-location change from Long Beach CC).
