Pasadena City College women's track and field sprinter Jaylin Morgan raced a 60.16 seconds time to place eighth in the 400 meter dash at the Southern California Championships held May 10 at Cerritos College.
Morgan scored one team point, allowing PCC to score as a team in 22nd place at the regional finals meet. It's the fourth straight season that the Lancers scored points at SoCals, but PCC will not be sending a qualifier for the 3C2A State Championships for the first time since 2019.
The PCC freshman ran a faster time of 59.80 at the SoCal Prelims also at Cerritos on May 3. Her best season time was 58.94 at the South Coast Conference Championships.
Sophomore Melissa Le just missed out of scoring as she took ninth in the javelin at 102 feet, 4 inches after marking at 110 even at the SoCal Prelims on May 3. She also finished in 14th in the discus (102-6).
Katherine Valverde was 11th in the pole vault at 7-8.5.
Le closes her 2-year athletics run at PCC.
