SCC Opener Results

Returning sophomore Jaylin Morgan won the 150-meter race and freshman Deniya Fields captured the 600 meters event to highlight the Pasadena City College women's track and field team's performances at the SCC Opener Meet held at Long Beach City College on Saturday.

Directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike in his eight season in charge of the program, PCC scored 25 team points to place in a tie for fifth with El Camino out of seven scoring colleges.

Morgan won the 150 as her heat #1 time of 18.84 seconds edged out heat #2 winner Chloe Guerena (Orange Coast) by just .03. Freshman Ireja Lauderdale (South Pasadena High) scored eighth in the event at 19.88 while Fields was ninth at 20.01.

Fields, from Muir High, won the middle-distance event in 1:39.31 nearly six seconds faster the second-place finisher Kahlai Cruser of Mt. San Antonio. Morgan placed fourth in 1:47.54.

Freshman Nadia Mims (Palmdale's Pete Knight High) was 20th in the 60 meters at 9.42. Other freshmen participating were Ellen Kim (Crescenta Valley), who was 13th in the 1,500 meters (6:33.1) and 3,000 (14:09.14) and Gisell Muniz (from Mexico) who was 14th and 15th in those two events, respectively.

The 60, 150 and 600 events are indoor events and considered non-traditional for outdoor track and field.

Sixteen total student-athletes make up the 2025 PCC roster.

The next scheduled meet is the RCC Invitational at Riverside City College on Friday, Feb. 28.
