Still stinging from an opening upset loss to El Camino that started South Coast Conference play, the state #9 Pasadena City College women's volleyball team rebounded Friday night by sweeping host Long Beach City College, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18, in a conference matchup.

The Lancers improved to 10-3 overall (1-1 in SCC) thanks in part to the hitting of outside hitter Emma Yogan, who planted 14 kills (hit .306) and served two aces. Lefty opposite Kyley Chang added four kills, two blocks and served five of PCC's 12 aces. Setter Bia Silva dished out 30 assists (10 per set) with five kills, six digs and two aces.

Outside hitter Leslie Pacheco and middle blocker Ashley Gilbert each recorded seven kills, libero Emily Licon tallied 11 digs, and middle blocker Reese Roper scored three assisted blocks. Defensive specialist Makayla Chiechi added three aces and six digs.

PCC has a another key SCC encounter on Wednesday, Sept. 28 when it hosts #21 Mt. San Antonio College in a 6 p.m. first serve at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. Last year, PCC played a 5-set thriller to beat the Mounties in the SCC Championship Tournament that won the Lancers the conference crown.
