If you want to know who the fastest runner is on the 2022 Pasadena City College women's cross country team, so do the Lancers themselves. For the fourth time in four meets, a different PCC racer has led all team members to the finish line.

On Friday at the Mt. SAC Invitational, it was Alejandra Penaloza's turn to be the team's top runner as she took 71st overall in 26:09 over the 3-mile course.

With just four runners available due to injuries, Penaloza topped her teammates in Estrella Camacho-Rodriguez (27:21.6, 78th place), Chelsey Argueta (27:45.9, 80th), and last week's top finisher Sophia Manfre (28:05.6, 82nd).

"It's a healthy competition but maybe our best runner is Maria Jimenez who has been out with an injury," said PCC head coach Innocent Egbunike. "Alejandra did a nice job at Mt. SAC, and what's great is she is also a local student out of Pasadena High. I'm hoping they all keep pushing each other to perform at their peak."

The Lancers are scheduled to run in the Cal State Fullerton John Elders Titan Invite on Friday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m.
