After making history on April 15, 2020 as both the first woman and first full-time coach/instructor to be hired to direct the Pasadena City College women's soccer program, Terryn Soelberg put together a historic 2023 season.

Her Lancers set a school record for victories in a season (17), set the program's longest undefeated streak at 13 games (9-0-4) to open the year, and reached the Southern California Regional semifinals. It was the first postseason by a PCC team in 11 years.

In the playoffs, PCC, seeded #13, shocked #4 Mt. San Antonio, winning for the first time ever at the Walnut campus in a 2-1, overtime victory in Round 1. 

Pasadena placed second in the difficult South Coast Conference North Division at 7-2. PCC also ended a 22-year winless drought at Cerritos College. 

The Lancers featured two goalies who set PCC single-season records in Francesca Agliolo, whose 1.18 goals against average is the lowest by any netminder with 1,000 or more minutes played, and Natalia Portillo, whose .906 save percentage in 13 games played is the best in program history. The team's defense, 19th in the state at 0.87 goals allowed per game, was led by All-SCC First Team defenders Itzel Nunez and Destiny Delgado. The squad recorded 13 team shutouts, tied for eighth in the state and a school record for one season.

PCC had one of the finest midfielders in the state in All-SCC First Teamer Charlie Gallardo, the team's leading points scorer with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points.

In 2022, Soelberg improved by four team points from her first year with a 7-10-4 record and a third place finish in the South Coast Conference North Division. From Sept. 16 through Oct. 14, PCC had a strong 5-2-1 run, including the program's first victory over Cerritos College since 2012. 

In her first season guiding the Lancers in 2021, Soelberg's Lancers endured a tough rookie year at 7-14, but her squad showed improvement by winning three of its final four games and improving the program two places to third in the SCC North.

Her first career coaching victory occurred in the team's fourth game, an 8-0 home triumph over Victor Valley. In an October match v. East Los Angeles, PCC scored the most goals in a game in 23 years in a 12-0 victory. 

Soelberg has guided 15 Lancers to All-SCC honors including 2-time First Teamer Olivia Aguilar and twice All-SCC performers in defenders Gabby Morales and Avery Romero, all three from the 2021-22 seasons. In just three seasons, Soelberg has coached six of the top 30 all-time leading points scorers in PCC history, led by Megan Schmidt ('22-23) at #12.

Previously, Soelberg coached five seasons as an assistant at Santa Ana College (2015-2019). Working with head coach Jaymie Baquero, Soelberg helped the Dons reach the postseason for the first time in 10 years in 2019. In the Southern California Regionals, Santa Ana defeated Cuesta, then took eventual CCCAA state champion Santiago Canyon to double overtime in a 0-0 tie after 120 minutes. Santiago Canyon would advance on penalty kicks (5-3) ending one of the most successful seasons in Santa Ana soccer history. Soelberg assisted in the development of Orange Empire Conference MVP Lenya Wood. 

Soelberg, 33, also served two seasons as head soccer coach at University High School in Irvine, twice guiding the team to second place finishes in the Pacific Coast League and earning two trips to the CIF playoffs.

Since 2016, she has coached teams for the Pateadores Soccer Club in Newport Beach. 

As a student-athlete, Soelberg first attended Bakersfield's Highland High then Bakersfield College. Playing for the Renegades in 2009, she led the Western State Conference in scoring with 18 goals and five assists. A forward, Soelberg scored her team's lone goal in a playoff loss to San Bernardino Valley. 

Soelberg went on to earn a scholarship to attend NCAA Division II Brigham Young University-Hawaii. She made the 2012 All-PacWest Third Team as a senior. Soelberg played on the same high school and college teams as her twin sister Torree Soelberg. 

Soelberg earned an AA degree at Bakersfield, received a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science at BYU-Hawaii, and accomplished her master's in kinesiology at Cal State Long Beach.
