Women's Track and Field's Ghazanchian Scores Top 3 Placing In 2 Events At Bakersfield Meet

Liz Ghazanchian scored second overall in the discus and took third in the shot put to highlight the Pasadena City College women's track and field team's performance at the Bakersfield Relays held May 18.

Ghazanchian threw a season-best 118 feet-2 inches to score second out of 22 throwers in the discus. Her toss is now #13-ranked in the state.

The sophomore also tossed a season best in the shot put at 33-11.5, a mark placing her #20 in the state. 

Joelyne Garcia placed fourth in the javelin (91-6) while Julianna Antunez was fifth in the high jump (4-6).

Ajes Phillips raced her best time in the 400 meters (1:03.32) to place sixth. Sophia Malki was 17th in the 100 at 13.46 seconds. 

PASADENA INVITATIONAL--FRIDAY, MAR. 24

PCC's Robinson Stadium will be the host for the Pasadena Invitational on Friday, Mar. 24. Field events begin at 9 a.m. with some events being held at nearby CalTech while the running events start at 1 p.m.

Lancers head coach Innocent Egbunike is the meet director.
