Ghazanchian Qualifies For State Meet In Discus At Pasadena Women's Track/Field Invite

Sophomore Liz Ghazanchian highlighted the Pasadena Invitational by winning the discus event with a state meet-qualifying toss of 38.44 meters (126 feet, 1 inch). The Pasadena City College women's track and field stalwart made the throw at her home practice site at Robinson Stadium on Mar. 24.

Ghazanchian is now #9 in the state (third in the South Coast Conference) in the discus. She also won the shot put event at 30-10.5 (her best is 33-11.5).

Joelyne Garcia took first place in the javelin (90-9) and teammate Melissa Le was second (83-7). Julianna Antunez won the high jump (4 feet) and scored second in the long jump (13-1.5).

Sabrina Roman won the 1,500 meters in 6:26.88 and was second in the 800 meters (2:57.27). Sophia Malki (28.46 seconds) edged teammate Ajes Philips (28.51) to win the 400 meters and Crystal Ludwig was third at 28.59. 

Malki took fifth in the 100 meters at 13.14 seconds, followed by Ludwig (13.16) and Ashley Comanescu (13.17). 

PCC head coach Innocent Egbunike's Lancers will participate next in the Dave Shannon Invitational at El Camino College on Saturday, April 1.
