Guard Jolene Robinson is on her way to Cal State Los Angeles while forwards Ilianna Blanc and Kandace Payne are headed to the University of Antelope Valley.

    Despite rallying from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to send it to overtime, the 10th-seeded Pasadena City College women's basketball team couldn't complete the come back against No. 2 East Los Angeles. The Huskies' Alissa Gomez scored 14 of her team's 17 points in the 5-minute extra period as ELAC ended the Lancers season, 70-64, in the third round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs Saturday night.

    It's been four years since Pasadena City College women's basketball head coach Joe Peron enjoyed a 20-win season. On Wednesday, Peron's Lancers reached the 20th win plateau for the 14th time in 21 seasons under Peron's leadership behind an 80-62 victory over Rio Hondo at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

    The Pasadena City College women's basketball team knew what it was in store for in playing in the state's most powerful league--the 6-team, South Coast Conference North Division. Many of its games have been defensive struggles, which was the case again Friday at Chaffey. PCC was in jeopardy of falling into a fourth-place tie with the Panthers, but despite playing behind for most of the game, the Lancers left the gym with a 51-45 win.

  • PCC WBB Coach Joe Peron Receives Community Service Award

    Joe Peron, head coach of the women's basketball program at Pasadena City College since 1996, will be honored with the City of Pasadena's 2017 Black History Celebration and Planning Committee Service Award. Peron is one of several PCC employee recipients this year, but is believed to be the first coach to receive such an honor since the city began these awards in 2009.

    The state No. 11-ranked Pasadena City College women's basketball team didn't waste any time establishing itself in 2017. The Lancers rolled over host Cerritos, 85-50, Friday night and improved to 14-3 on the season. PCC won v. the Falcons for the first time since Jan. 29, 2014, snapping a 3-game losing streak in the series. The 35-point margin is the program's biggest win ever over Cerritos.

The Lancers won a defensive battle over Ventura, 59-42, in the third place final Sunday as PCC improved to 11-2 this season.

    During a reign of success between 1999 and 2010, head coach Joe Peron routinely directed his Pasadena City College women's basketball teams to a Santa Claus size bag of tournament championship trophies. But until this past Sunday, the Lancers had been in a drought in the title column. PCC defeated Gavilan, 79-50, to capture the Los Angeles Southwest Tournament title, the first tourney win by a Pasadena team in three years.

The 2016 state championship game was an All-SCC North matchup with Mt. San Antonio rallying to beat East Los Angeles in the final.
